Discover Hardy Perennials and Cacti for Maryland Landscapes

People ask me all the time how I got interested in plants. I always think about that question and wonder, what isn’t there to get interested in about plants? From the food we eat and the medicines we take to the oxygen plants provide, everything in our ecosystem depends on them. There is much to appreciate in their often-bizarre lifestyles.

I really love weird plants—everyone loves weird plants—but they can be hard to grow and don’t add curb appeal. Enter native plants. Plants that are meant to be here. Native plants have evolved to thrive under the conditions Mother Nature provides free of charge right outside our doorstep. For those in the know, they mean less maintenance and watering while still enjoying the view.

After years of having trouble finding conveniently located and affordably priced native plants, I decided to help the Baltimore Metro area by starting a nursery! For those who know where to find quality nurseries and how much the plants sell for, Jo-Mar pricing at $10 for #1's (trade gallon) is a price point that anyone can find more space in their yard for. I can price a lot lower because I am growing them up as opposed to obtaining and selling retail-ready plants like they do.

There won’t be any brick-and-mortar sales for the first season, but you can contact me or see me at local farmer’s markets like Waverly and stock up!

I am currently taking preorders/contract grow-orders to plan the pottings, which will be available in May pending local growing conditions. Spring ephemerals and annuals should be marketable beginning mid-March.
